Is There A New King Of Portable Vaporizers?
Storz & Bickel has changed the way people think about portable vaporizers. The company has introduced a new “King” with the Mighty vaporizer. This model provides exceptional flavor with all the features you love, and a desktop-quality vaporizer built right into a portable vaporizer that you can bring with you on the go.
And, this model is above or at least on par with the univerally accepted “Best Portable Vaporizer” the Pax 2 – it’s that good.
But what about the Storz & Bickel Crafty model? Isn’t that there portable unit?
Well, I want to stress that the Mighty is essentially a sibling of the Crafty. What do I mean by this? This model is virtually identical in looks, but the Mighty is bigger and more powerful.
The same company makes both models, (they make the undisputed king of the desktop vaporizers too with the Volcano) so you can expect the same great quality with each of these vaporizers.
Let’s take a look at what makes these models different from each other.
Crafty vs Mighty Comparison
When it comes to the Mighty vs Crafty debate, it’s hard to choose a clear winner. The main difference is that the Mighty is bigger than its counterpart, so it has a little bit of a different role. But, both of these models are portable vaporizers, so they will both be used by anyone that wants to vape on the go.
Again, the main difference here is size.
The Mighty vaporizer is far bigger than its counterpart. In fact, it won’t even fit into your pocket like the Crafty does, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not portable. You can still take this model on the go with ease.
And, there are a lot of benefits to this model compared to the smaller Crafty, such as:
- The battery life has been increased to 90 minutes, whereas the Crafty has just a 45 minute battery life.
- The power cord has also been increased in length, with a 6 foot power cord versus the smaller 2.5 feet power cord that was very inconvenient.
- Storz & Bickel have upgraded the battery. In the past, Crafty would need to be approximately 20% charged to vape even when the model was plugged in. The Mighty is able to be used immediately once it’s plugged into the wall. This means that you don’t have to wait for the vaporizer to fully charge before taking your first puff.
- A screen display is present on the Mighty instead of the smart phone app. This display allows you to adjust the temperatures and view the remaining battery life. You never have to use an app to control your vaporizer.
The Mighty vaporizer is superior to the Crafty simply because it is much bigger. You’ll still experience the great vapor quality and flavor, but you’ll experience a longer battery life, the ability to use the vaporizer when it’s charging, and a screen display that is far more convenient than the alternative.
My Initial Thoughts about the Mighty Vaporizer
I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing several different models, including the Volcano and the Pax 2. I wanted to know more about this product prior to comparing it to the Pax, which is revered as one of the best vaporizers ever made.
There is a very unique look to this vaporizer. It has a square design with a black exterior that kind of looks futuristic.
What this model offers, though, is something completely different than what you’ll find on the market today.
Yes, it is much bigger than its counterpart, but you will quickly notice the benefits that the Mighty has to offer and you can still take it with you easily.
Using full convection hot-air, you never have to worry about your herb burning when placed in this vaporizer. Immediate and continuous vaporization occurs from the first inhale taken.
You’ll notice the display is directly on the front of the model. This allows you to adjust the temperature of the vaporizer and the battery life without using an app or complicated software to do so.
Precision Electronic Control
Many vaporizers on the market do not have precision control when it comes to their temperature. This means that one day, you’ll have a thick vapor at the highest setting and the next, the vapor is lackluster.
Using super precise temperature control, this model continually regulates the temperature to ensure that you have the perfect temperature at all times. This is highly precise, so you never have to worry about the vaporizer overheating or burning your herbs in the worst-case scenario.
With a high efficiency heat exchange, thanks to the convection and conduction, this is one of the best vaporizers in terms of control.
You never have to worry about the temperature being inaccurate again.
The 1” x 1” LED display allows you to control the temperature, and offers a range of 105°F to 410°F. You’ll also be able to adjust the temperature while you’re vaping to find the ideal setting for you.
I almost forgot to mention that it takes one to two minutes for this model to heat up fully.
Size and Portability
I won’t lie, this is one of the largest portable vaporizers on the market. But, the Mighty ranks in the top three models in existence. The exact dimensions are:
- 5 inches in height
- 2 inches in length
- 2 inches in depth
This model is also slightly lighter than the stainless steel firefly, but heavier than the Haze or the Crafty. In total, this model weighs .5 pounds (230 grams).
If you’re after personal concealment, this not the ideal model for you. It’s bigger than most, and it won’t really fit in your pocket. But, this is the ideal choice for a group vaporizer, or for those times when you don’t care about concealment.
Chamber Size and Considerations
The amount of herb that this model holds is between .2 g and .3 g. If you have a very fine grind of herb, you’ll be able to fit .3 g easily in this model. A filling aid has been included that makes loading and unloading herb easy. All you have to do is attach the filling aid, add some herb, and attach it to the Mighty.
It’s super easy to use, and one press of a button will have you vaping immediately.
Battery Life and Charging
I touched upon this earlier, and I want to give you more information about the battery life of the Mighty. The dual lithium battery has about 90 minutes of charge time, and this will depend on your habits. If you inhale deeply for a strong hit, there is good chance that your battery life will be 90 minutes or less.
If you take a moderate hit, this unit will last longer than 90 minutes in most cases.
You can’t plug this unit into your USB port to charge. Instead, you need to plug the unit directly into the wall. The Mighty has a two-hour charge time if the unit is fully depleted. This allows for several sessions of vaping before needing to recharge the unit.
Also, you can use the unit while it’s charging no matter the current battery level.
Mighty vs Pax 2
Instead of boring you with the full comparison of these two models, I want to point out the main difference between these two: the heating element.
Pax utilizes conduction heat, while Mighty uses a combination of 20% conduction 80% convection. What does this all mean? Ultimately, the Mighty produces a better vapor quality with a better taste.

I would even recommend this model over the Volcano. In terms of the best vapor quality on the market, it truly doesn’t get better than the Mighty vaporizer. Cleaning is also much easier, with both models being able to hold up about the same amount of herb.
In terms of charging, both models are on par with each other. A two hour charge time with a battery life of 90 minutes is offered with both models.
So, these models are on par in terms of battery life and herb holding capacity. I would argue that the Pax is much harder to clean than the Mighty. But, the Pax 2 does have a much smaller size, which is better for concealment.
You honestly can’t go wrong with either of these vaporizers, but the vapor quality is better with the Mighty Vaporizer.
I’ve been using the Mighty for months, and have never went back to either the Volcano or the Pax.
With a larger size, this model also beats the Crafty, which is essentially a smaller version of the Mighty with many of the same great features aside from battery life.
